September 24, 2014, 11:58 am I got a call from (347)166-5870. The man said he was technician from Microsoft and was calling to fix error messages that they see coming from my computer that will cause my computer to crash if I don't let them fix it. I asked him how can he see inside of my computer? He asked me if I had Genuine Microsoft Software. I said, "yes." He said that is how they know. I knew he was trying to set me up for a scam because Microsoft does not go around looking into computers and calling consumers to fix it. I knew this because I had gotten a call matching the same criteria a couple of years ago from a different phone number. Microsoft's Technical Support number is 800-936-5700. Report these incidents. February 10, 2015, 11:54 am Called claiming I had already paid them �49 to stop unwanted calls. I asked how I paid, they said by debit card.
