Scammers will claim that you are eligible for a $7500 to $10,000 government grant and that all you need to do is pay a small fee or tax to collect the grant. This is a total scam and the government office that handles grants has made public statements that people should be cautious about people calling them to offer these grants. They are not legit and unless you have applied for a grant , which is most often how people get them, then you are very unlikely talking to a real person working for the government.

You can report his fraud to the government at using the information on the website listed below:

It's a big scam and I'm sure the government is already working on catching them as fruitless as it may seem. These people are often getting caught or being forced to make million dollar refunds to all the people they ripped off. It's only a matter of time.

Person calling had a very thick Indian accent and they offered a free $9000 US grant that never had to be paid back. Wanted a small fee to collect. I think this is just a simple phishing scam trying to steal your credit card or personal information with the grant as a lure to trick you. Government has made statements on their website to avoid these calls as they don't not give out grants in this manner, which is random calls to people who don't need grants.

This number may also have scams for IRS and computer tech support people faking viruses on your computer trying to sell you fake tech support packages.

I am getting the tech support scam on this line so I can only assume the grant scam and tech support scam are being run by the same organized criminal operations. Different departments in the same scam business. Person on the phone wanted to get remote access to my computer to fix a virus. I laughed and hung up.

Grant scams have been verified by the US Government as frauds. The grant department does not go around calling people at random to offer them free money like they are stupid and enjoy giving away free money. You have to apply for a grant and will most likely get something in the mail or be able to call them back to verify you application.
