June 27, 2014, 2:05 pm I first received a call from an unknown number. The lady left a voice mail saying she's trying to serve me papers for a lawsuit. She left me a number to call this Pyramid Law company (844-811-1142). I called them and the lady was professional at first but very unorganized. She knew very little about this payday loan I owed but was threatening to send a process server and sheriff out to my house today. She claimed I owed $1600 immediately or I'd have criminal charges against me for a bad check. The loan was only for $300 so I can't imagine why I'd owe $1600. When I asked further information she became hostile and told me to "stop running my mouth and shut up". I disconnected the call. I'm hoping this is a scam and they're just using scare tactics? July 8, 2014, 6:50 pm I received a call from a restricted number telking me to call 844811142 and reference a claim number. Caller was female and did not identify herself but said she had papers and threatened a subpoena unless I call the company and pay the debt. Tyen my supervisor calk ed saying they got a call for me and the lady said all my numbers were disconnected. They gave me the message with a first name of Tricia with National Express and the same number 8448111142. I think this is bogus. No reputable collection company listed online with that name! August 4, 2014, 4:02 pm I have received multiple calls from an Unknown/Private number, advising to call back to 844-811-1142. The individual was named Anthony Goldstein and he advised he was a Process Server with National Express Couriers. All his calls up until this afternoon were a request for me to call the 844 number noted above to schedule a time where he could deliver court documents that require my signature. Let's start off with that. Firstly, no legal firm or branch ANYWHERE will use a 3rd party to attempt to schedule delivery of serving you with a suit. They would already know where you are, and they would just show up! Giving advance notice in this fashion would technically hurt their job, since said guilty parties would then have the forewarning to flee the applicable jurisdiction. Secondly, if you were going to schedule the delivery of said legal documents wouldn't it make the most sense, logically speaking, to call back and make the necessary arrangements with the individual who will be physically delivering as opposed to a 3rd party?? Anyways, his message this afternoon stated that he was going to file an affidavit of due diligence stating that he had done all in his power to reach me, and they were going to file a plea of guilty for me. He further said to contact the firm that processed me, again referring to a docket number and the above 844 number. Continued with stating my failure to appear in court would result in a warrant being issued for my arrest. Continuing my comment tirade from above... in the state of New York, pay day loans are illegal, nor can you be arrested for failure to pay said loan back. I know of people who are $10K owed to the IRS, if they are not in jail, I won't be either for a pay day loan that I never took out. In conclusion, this is a SCAM and they are using scare tactics in get you to call back so they can get your information and pressure you to make a payment down on said outstanding loan! September 23, 2014, 11:05 am I received a call from one of our customers saying that he was contacted by this number and that he owed our company for a bad check. Five years ago he did have a problem with one check that he immediately made good. Somehow the caller knew that information and used it against him, saying he owed for that check. What I didn't like is that he threw our company into this and tied our reputation in with this bogus threat. As you can imagine, I called the number and gave them an earful. I first spoke to Nicole and then Mike. I wish we could stop this kind of thing, but short of that please tell everyone you know so that it doesn't happen to them. Thank you. October 8, 2014, 10:21 am Same thing as above. Phishing for sure. I didn't answer because I didn't know number. Message was obviously a recorded message that said we have a claim tied to your social security number and to call back immediately. The same thing happened to my husband and a friend about a month ago and when my husband called back the so called company was trying to get him to verify his SSN. My husband said you apparently have it. They got very ignorant and started saying well you are going to be served and what's your address. Of course he didn't give it. My husband them told them he was contacting the attorney generals office in NY and then they hung up on my husband. Scammers. There is a special place in hell for people like that. November 15, 2016, 4:26 pm I just got a call from (202) 600-3861, they referred me to (844) 811- 9405. They threatened me with a lawsuit for a payday loan that was previously settled. They said they were calling from Alliance Group Law firm. I checked the website and there is a fraud alert that scammers are using this company name to collect debt and an email can be sent to verify validity (if they use Alliance Group Law firm).
