I called them back and the person gave me the company name as "debt collection of America" and then began asking me personal questions to try to verify me by name to start getting the payments coming in. December 9, 2014, 5:11 pm this is the collection agency for charter communications. They are trying to get payment from me when in fact THEY OWE ME MONEY !!!! I explained to them upon 1st contact 3 months ago that they need to fast track my account to the court room for collection. I have all my correspondance with them on record and will force a subpoena of their records and "recorded" phone calls when they get me into court. I can't wait to get this before a judge....... December 19, 2014, 11:50 am I received a call from 855-691-0193 on Tuesday. I did not answer because I did not recognize the number. Today I got a call from 855-691-0191. I decided to answer. Said hello - no response. Waited a few seconds and silence, so I hung up. After researching on-line, several people have said this is a call from Charter Communications. We don't even have Charter available in our area. Others have said it is from Debt Collection of America. I do not have any outstanding debts. I think this is a total scam and even if you did owe money, I would not give these people the time of day but get your act together and go pay your debt to the company you owe the money too. February 2, 2015, 5:14 pm I am having a dispute with Charter Communications over my cable bill. They say I owe over $130, due to the date of the cancellation of the contract. They are basically hounding me me an extra month of service combined with the last months service. I refuse to pay this until they correct the billing. December 24, 2015, 1:40 pm They call my cell multiple times a day! There is usually silence when I answer so I hang up.. Today a woman asked if she was speaking to, *my first name*, when I said yes, she hung up on me?? I called the caller id # back and they answered with " Collection Bureau of America". May 19, 2016, 9:06 pm Same happened to me. It's an Hispanic woman calling from "Debt collectors of America" and refuses to give me any info about my supposed debt to California highway patrol. I have paid every debt I've owed. This is an obvious scam. She let me speak with her "supervisor" and it was a hispanic woman who spoke very little english.
